Day One.

Welcome to Ubud…

Arrive at the luxurious Adiwana Bisma hotel nestled in the heart of Ubud. Meet your host, Dani Venn, and your fellow “retreatees” for afternoon tea (think raw cakes and tropical fruit) followed by a special class to learn the art of making a Balinese offering. A short, reflective gratitude meditation will follow where we set our intentions for the weekend.

Once you've started to unwind and settle in, cool off in the insta-worthy infinity pool set atop lush green jungle, sit peacefully in the comfort of your room staring out into the natural surrounds or settle in with a sunset cocktail.

As day cascades into night enjoy a traditional Balinese welcome dinner at Adiwina Bisma’s restaurant, Pistachio, with new friends. Call it a night feeling satiated from the glow of good conversation, food and friendship. Back in your room, slip into your kimono and snuggle into the most heavenly of beds for a restful sleep…

Day Two.

Walk, talk and soak it all in….

Pour yourself a cup of gratitude with the sounds of nature slowly awakening and reviving your senses as you rise early to experience the beauty of Ubud in the morning before the world wakes up.

Tread softly and sustainably on foot to witness the pre-dawn hustle of Ubud market, explore hidden alleys around Ubud palace and watch the sunrise with a picnic breakfast in the breathtaking green rice fields, led by an experienced guide.

Soak in the magic and spirituality of Ubud by relaxing in natural hot springs before feasting on Balinese delicacies for lunch.

Returning to the hotel to spend the afternoon as you please (imagine that!), lie by the pool, bliss out with that book you’ve been wanting to start or surrender to a sensuous, full body massage treatment, or enjoy an uninterrupted afternoon nap (yes please!)

Meet back up at dinner to dine at one of Ubud’s most treasured restaurants Indus, for a sunset cocktail and a beautiful meal in a spectacular setting.

Day Three.

The power of ceremony

Wake feeling calm, refreshed and revived, as if you have been on holiday for a week. Decide to sleep in or enjoy the first of our morning yoga classes led by Dani’s co-host Meg Killorn, qualified yoga teacher and adventure seeker. Meg will guide and support you whether you are a beginner or yoga aficionado, on the hotel rooftop terrace (our yoga Shala for the week) overlooking the lush Ubud jungle and infinity pool.

Enjoy breakfast at Pistachio before heading to Janet DeNeefe’s (author of ‘Bali’ cookbook) Casa Luna Cooking School for a hands-on class to learn how to cook Balinese ceremonial food, think satay, gado gado, corn fritters and beans in coconut milk. Be rewarded with your efforts with a gorgeous spread for lunch.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy, wander aimlessly discovering the shops of Ubud, return to the hotel for a massage and relax in the balmy weather before enjoying cocktails and canapes as the sunsets on a beautiful day before dinner at Pistachio.

Day Four.

Beauty and bliss…

Today is all about you. You can choose to do whatever you like (imagine that?) Wake up for morning yoga, or sleep in.

Join Dani on a medicinal herbal garden walk and natural beauty class to learn more about the healing powers of Indonesia’s native ingredients by learning how to make traditional “Jamu” (herbal tonic), as well as your own organic skin scrubs and fragrant massage oil to take home. Enjoy a plant-based lunch at Dani’s favourite vegan hot spot Sayuri Healing Food for amazing salads, smoothies and the best raw cakes in town.

Alternatively stay at the hotel and enjoy the day at your own pace, have a massage, stare aimlessly into the horizon and take time out for yourself.

Once you’ve had the day doing as you please, slip into something comfortable and join the group for a cocktail under the glow of dusk before heading to the Gianyar Night Market Tour led by a local guide and Dani, to eat and shop just like the locals do or dinner can be provided at the hotel.

Day Five.

Feast like a master chef cooks

Wake to the sounds of birds and monkeys before joining Meg for a gentle morning yoga class followed by another gorgeous breakfast at Pistachio. The only difficulty will be choosing what to have on the breakfast menu, your tried and tested favourite or something new?

Chill out by the pool before gathering for an exclusive spice masterclass led by Dani where her favourite and famous recipe secrets will be shown and shared (think Sri Lankan Pineapple Curry, the best roti and more!). Enjoy a long lunch prepared by Dani over laughs and story swapping with your new bunch of friends.

Relax in the afternoon as you please, perhaps a visit to the Monkey Forest is on the cards or wander the streets of Ubud to do some last minute shopping before glamming up for our final sunset cocktail and dinner at Locavore Nusantara, to experience a modern take on Java and Sumatran dishes.

Day Six.

Farewell, but not goodbye

Take in the beauty of Ubud with a final down dog at morning yoga, feeling completely grateful for the surrounds and experiences of the past week.

Savour your favourite breakfast dish and say farewell or until next time to your new bunch of besties.

Take one last dip before flying out, warm and sun kissed dreaming of your return or arrange a late check out and catch a late flight home home full of inspiration, joy and self-love. or or stay on at the hotel for some more R&R.

“I am thrilled to bring my one-of-a-kind annual retreat back to Bali with a new itinerary designed with the perfect balance of rest, exploration and ‘me time’ in mind.

I can not wait to cook for you, laugh with you and create unforgettable memories in Ubud that I know you will hold onto for a lifetime.”
